"My name is Lieh Moletsane , and I was one of the participants of the LIDDO Leadership Camp 2024 which was made possible by the assistance of Mtoto News and American Corner Maseru, therefore I would like to pass my gratitude Mtoto News and American Corner Maseru for supporting this initiative .
I joined the camp because I saw the camp as an opportunity to be equipped with skills of how to become a young innovative leader in my community, Lesotho, and in Africa . This I would achieve because other young leaders of tomorrow would be part of this initiative so we would be able to equip each other with different leadership skills and it is through this camp I learned about The Four Pillars of Leadership by Dr John Maxwell which are relationships , equipping , leadership and attitude. It is through this pillars that I hope to become a better leader in my community and an inspiration to other potential young leaders .
The challenges we were faced with at the camp inspired me to give back to my community by addressing an issue which has been ignored for far to long for the threat the issue holds . I plan to give back to my community by implementing climate actions (SDG #13) to minimize or stop climate change in my community as a way of sharing my experience at the LLC 2024.
Your investment into making this event a success is highly noticed because supporting child and youth participation is a crucial part of the youth becoming empathetic citizens of Lesotho therefore becoming leaders who will transform Lesotho for the better. This will also help increase their confidence , making them more open minded to thinking outside the box thus solving many problems in Lesotho .
The LIDDO Initiative is in line with the objective of youth and child participation because LIDDO’s mission is to give the youth a voice in Lesotho and give them a chance to showcase their problem solving at a more professional level . I think more funding is necessary to provide for a better experience for future cohorts like a change on sleeping and eating arrangements.
I am highly grateful for your help in making the LLC a success. I thank you!" - Lieh Moletsane.
